Karsh Kale In Longhorn

Karsh Kale! Who is he? These were the responses of 80-90% of my music loving circle, and out of those who heard of him, most saw his name on their Windows Longhorn compilation. Karsh Kale is an American musician of Indian descent, he is so much famous out there for making hybridized music working from drums to Indian tabla in a mood elevating way. It can be appreciated alike by a classics loving spectator to LP fan. And yes as I told you two of his compositions were featured in Longhorn's predef music library.
Karsh Kale was never trained formally in Indian music learned tabla on his own, and people say that's the reason why he plays and experiments with his genere and his instruments so well!
Two songs by Karsh Kale (Distance, One Step Beyond) are included with Microsoft Windows Vista.

Samsung In Bufallo!

These people, the companies I mean, they drive me crazy. I opened up my Buffalo portable HDD only to find a Samsung HDD in there. I didn't knew that this kind of assembling is also done between such big companies and competitors. I guess that's why they weren't telling me the details when I asked for the Brand and model of the hard disk inside!!

Map Panorama!

It was a time when always online and 24*7 internet map was a kind of dream. So I made up a panorma of a city so that I don't have to go online every time when I wanted to see a map! So here ... it was the result.. Actually I stitched it from wikimapia. Click the Image to enlarge:

Ever Heard of Tell-Ware Agreement!

Shareware, freeware, abandon ware, donation ware and now there's a new ware and its called tell ware.
Daz3D have made an agreement and they make you accept the so called "tell-ware" agreement before you can use their software, it's interesting as well as innovative!:
"I Agree to tell at least two people about DAZ Studio and/or www.DAZ3D.com that are not already aware of DAZ 3D.
What is Tell-Ware?
DAZ 3D has a made a commitment to keep the DAZ Studio core application FREE to the public for as long as possible. In order for this to be possible, DAZ 3D relies on the revenues generated by the purchase of content and advanced versions of DAZ Studio that are available in the DAZ 3D online store. The more people that purchase regularly from DAZ 3D, the more that development of DAZ Studio can be subsidized and the longer that the core version of DAZ Studio will remain free. For this reason, we ask that you agree to tell at least two other people about DAZ Studio and/or the DAZ 3D website that don't already know about www.DAZ3D.com. With your help, we can continue to offer a free version of DAZ Studio indefinitely.
The power of a single individual can be substantial. Great things can come to pass as a result of the power and good faith of a single person. By joining together, each one of us can help insure a bright future for this 3D community. DAZ 3D strongly believes that by simply telling a friend or two about DAZ Studio and what can be done by combining this free program with any of the thousands of pieces of digital content available, the growth of the community can become exponential.
You CAN make a difference!"

Seize Thy Os

Restoring computer to an original state that was before the fresh install of Windows is one of the worst and most tiring jobs I ever came across. I tried from making an image of my boot partition from another OS(HBCD or some more), to making backups, to making restores. But the saviour I at last found was so good and simplistic in approach that I am not able to believe it even now. Its a mere 6 MB download and it works magic. Every bit of this paid software feels paid back if you really are sick of your cyber-cafe or any computer crashing and getting viruses from other people's use. I don't want you to download it from here! ;-) This is faronics' official website. And the software is called deep freeze. It is one of the best software I've ever seen in the field of computer restoration a mere 6 MB download and it works as magic.
WIKI:
"Deep Freeze is a kernel-level driver that protects hard drive integrity by redirecting information being written to the hard drive or partition, leaving the original data intact. This redirected information is no longer referenced once the computer is restarted, thus restoring the system to its original state at the disk sector level. This allows users to make 'virtual' changes to the system, giving them the appearance that they can modify core files or even delete them, and even make the system unusable to themselves, but upon reboot the originally configured 'frozen' state of the operating system is restored."
Or in human language: it brings your computer to a steady state (you defined before), every time the computer is restarted.

*Just a warning, it shows up in the system tray and if you want to open the admin window double click the window while holding down shift.
Thanks "SakhiBaba"(the cybercafe which got me to know about it) and (sorry I don't know your name)

Chrome Sync

While you are on the way to deserting your PC by formatting, every byte of software to install bites the tech inside you. Drivers, Software, Games, Antivirus, Windows Updates, Tweaks and Settings, arrgggh... In this endeavour your internet browser chrome is bound not to be a burden. I think even a bite of help in such a matter helps the most for me... I will never love to make even a KB of tweak again!
By chance I just synced my chrome just before I decided for a fresh install of windows and it helped me with all of my extensions, bookmarks, apps and more on just click of a button. The only thing not synced being the settings of particular extensions which I think are most of the times are pretty easy to set up!
All you need to do to set up a sync is ->Wrench > >Options > >Personal Stuff Tab > >Sync, just put your G id, password and you are up with your first sync.

* Just BEaware of the consequences if you sync it on someone elses chrome or at a public computer!

Google Mail Storage and Limitations

How much free storage do you really get while being with Google!!
Gmail 7.5 GB and counting.
Picasa 1 GB
GDocs 1 GB
*Free storage from one product cannot be used by or transferred to another product.
*All photos posted to both Google Buzz and Blogger are included in the 1 GB of free storage allotted to Picasa Web Albums.
And further you can always purchase extra storage from them.

Other limitations. Gmail won't allow you to send mails bigger in size than 20 MB, don't think that other email providers such as Rediff provide unlimited Inbox. Mind it they just provide unlimited inbox, not that you can send mails as big as lets say 100MB. So, its just a marketing scheme, whats the use of an unlimited account when all you can do is fill it in the parts of 25 MB.
You can't send an email to more than 25 broken email id's!
You can't send an email to more than 500 people at a time from your browser!
You cant send zip/rar/exe files with Gmail!

Try to do any of the above listed acts and your email id is dead, the penalty may range from barring you from using your account for as long as 24 hours to permanently disabling your account!

Why So Mechanical

The reason why we are so different from children! It has been proved that when we are born we are much more curious than we are by the day. Why, where does it go! Most of the answer lies in the word MECHANICAL, no I am not talking about the branch of engineering. It's all about our behaviour, how many times do you see the google page...... just wait do you remember the order of colours in the logo. Or did you see blogger already has a share button and search box on the top of the page when you were searching for it in the Gadgets box! Or did you ever tried clicking the links "Blogger Buzz/Blogger in Draft" on your very dashboard of Blogger!
If your answer to all/some of the above questions is yes, It means you are curious enough to notice at least your surroundings.
I've even known people, even in colleges studying technology who've never "Felt Lucky" on the Google Search page. :-o . Can't you have a curiosity level of like, the Google's most simplistic page has a button so it must mean something. Do you know I am Feeling Lucky is the most expensive part of that page!
Have you ever tried to watch how a little boy notices every thing and the simplest of things in his surroundings.

Privacy Paranoid

Don't think that your friends who try to keep them selves anonymous are paranoid or something like that. What this means is just that they are more practical or sometime they have had a situation which made them learn this! Better learn this the simpler way, as they say "learning from other's mistakes is better than making your own!"
Check this torrent(it says: personal details for 100 million users of facebook) out and you will learn what i am talking about. At this time it has 200 seeds! Awful and awesome it is! Customize Favicon on Blogger

Favicon is the short for favourites icon it is used in URL, bookmarks, shortcuts, tabs and many other places of your website. For the first time it was used by MS IE 5, and after that it has always been a privilege to use them as such! The following screenshot shows the zoomed tab of this blog and its favicon:
favicon
Though the normal interface of blogger doesn't allow you to change it as such but the tech/geeky counterpart that is draft version allows it. First of all head over to http://draft.blogger.com and Under the "Deign" tab and "Page Elements" sub tab. Click on "Edit" just besides the word Favicon which is at the top:

favicon blogger
In the new tab open this or technically talking you have to show where your icon is so if you have an icon ready, point to that or alternately Google for "make favicon online", i prefer you click the link i posted above(just because i found it comprehensive and good). Now on the website(wherever you head to) either make an icon from the scratch by drawing one from the pencil tool, or upload a pic for them to transform that into *.ico file. "Choose file" then press "Go" and either edit the picture or just hit the button "Download Icon". Save the .ico file and point the edit dialog box to the place you saved the icon file.
DON'T forget to save the blogger page. Now your blog must be showing your personal favicon.
If you are not able to see the favicon as was the case with me, you may like to clear the cache of your browser and give it a restart. Here it must be showing up by now!

OpenSource Income

I love open source, and there are so many of them the open source an freeware supporters and promoters! But the problem is when a man or exactly a programmer really gets open source he has got problems surviving the tough market, he has to do what other paid companies do, without even the financial part of the support. And surviving oneself is another thing. And we people who don't even mind using pirated material, when did we get so sensible so as to support those open source developers.
So in these tough conditions one has to decide, having two ways to handle it either take the open source project lightly and make it a side work doing it in your spare time, but this way the product life-cycle takes a back seat hampering the product, after all coding is no fun stuff, it expects dedication; or the other way to manage is leave your work, and make the open source project as your work, expecting your users to provide you with enough to survive! Similar is the condition with Michael Gundlach! I suggest we should never ever let them starve.
If by any chance you have used the AdBlock Extension for Google Chrome(it has a very strong user base of 1,000,000 users and has got 4.5 stars out of 5) , did you ever chanced to click on the link "Did You Know This Is My Full Time Job?"(See Pic Below), i tried finding the link but cant find it any more than just at one place at the options page of AdBlock. I know, AdBlock may be stealing my or any other blogger's revenue generating users by not letting them view ads, still I love to see open source/freeware success stories. Why should blogger's block AdBlock?

Download Virus

This was the my search query in the Google Search Engine "Download Virus", a lot of times, and almost all of the times Google disappointed me in my intent. Amazing thing, whenever I tried not to catch a virus flu to my Computer I got notoriously naughty websites which were least trusted by me!
At least I think you can never catch virus by just typing "download virus" in the Google Search query, try on your own RISK! Na na, just joking, go on, give it a try. I didn't knew that virus makers are so cold hearted that they almost every-time have to put their viruses in some archive or exe for hiding, can't they provide just a website where we can download the viruses easily. I am waiting for someone to share a torrent some, thing like:
"Virus.iso" Peers: 2011
Description: this DVD image is full of all kind of imaginable viruses, just put it in the tray and forget about your computer.
If it doesn't come out anytime soon, I think I'll have to make one. ;-) I am on my way!

Pronunciation of Technetium

Hey there guys, I am back with some clarification regarding the pronunciation of the name of my blog "technetium". I got to know what people were pronunciating it when I heard my dad say it "tek-nee-shee-əm". You may argue me with your justifications but I say, a name or noun is what the deciding person decides it to be, so as opposed to the element named "technetium" my blog is pronounced as "tek-nÆ-tee-um" download and listen.

Mobile Template and Geotagging comes to Blogger

Google launched the mobile template in beta stage after so much of complaining by the users (word press had it beforehand), with almost no hype! I even tried searching their official blog for signs of Mobile View, but none were there, they haven't even updated their official help for "mobile template" yet, if you try Googling that won't be of any help either. It's very easy to enable mobile view for your blogger blog, even easier if you are opening your blog for the first time after google enabled this feature, all you have to do is click on "Turn on Mobile Templates" as shown below:

Mobile Templates

If not, you can always go to the "Settings" -> "Email & Mobile" -> click on "yes...." -> save preferences. It's done, if you want to know how your blog looks on mobile, you can always click on "MOBILE PREVIEW". The 2D bar code just by the side of the button reads the address of your blog.

Enabling Mobile View

Like mine reads something like "http://techtium.blogspot.com/?m=1". You can save the "chart.png", that is your bar code and put that anywhere you'd like to publicize your blog (of course this will work if your country is advanced enough that every person has a bar code reader installed in his phone; like in China).

Mobile View
But the problem with mobile view is that I wasn't able to go to mobile version of my blog automatically when I opened my blog on one NOKIA E phone and one XPRESS MUSIC, I had to put the mobile address ie "blogaddress/?m=1" so up to now its much of a filthy experience, you can't even edit the mobile template. Looks like Google has not activated the auto redirect*, but I am sure Google will work this out soon, yes it's in BETA! And since Wordpress users were having this feature at hand quiet lately, it's was an always expected feature and is Most Welcome by Blogger users. Even some basic gadgets are supported+
Another feature Blogger introduced lately is giving Location to your blog, it is placed at the place where the Labels used to be, and labels are shifted to the left.

*THIS FEATURE WAS ALREADY AVAILABLE UNDER BLOGGER DRAFT, it is version in which new features are tested before being released to all users.
You can always head up to http://bloggerindraft.blogspot.com for google draft's new up comings!!
*WebKit-based mobile browsers are supported for their initial launch.

Chrom(e)IUM Concerns

Google has put its hands on the browser market and every one already knows it. But there are some concerns like, chrome, chromium and chrome's various releases they confuse many. I tell you what, for much of the time, I too thought Chrome and Chromium to be the same thing!
As always, usually all the Google products as opposed to what you think are not actually Google made, many of them are either bought or borrowed like the "YouTube", and the famous "Android", actually chrome is not exactly like them. Some developers took the chromium(the one Google intended to make final product with) source code and decided to let it be Chromium and be released for the general public! Chromium is a fully Open Source browser, aside Google adds some closed source or exactly non-open source things, a Google branding and some fixes and calls it Chrome. Chromium  has development features which are expected to be tested in the Chrome product. Chromium is all about developmental releases while Chrome is the official Google release under the BSD licence. So now, all is clear about the Chrome-Chromium confusion!

  • Google Chrome (Stable): This is what the product from which a mature and robust behavior is expected. It has the features included only once they are tested thoroughly, though it lacks a bit on the features side.
  • Google Chrome Beta: It is not the final product but is expected to be used by general public for testing before the final product comes out with no glitches on the functionality, it has features which are expected to be included in the next major stable release.
  • Google Chrome Dev: It is exactly the developer release which is highly experimental and sometimes unstable too. These are the versions on which the new features are included which may or may not be present in the stable Chrome. So its mostly for Chrome applets writers and developers but overall can be used by anyone wanting to try new on the features side.

Similar is the Firefox release nomenclature in the order of unstable to stable
  • Nightly: Updated daily, has got daily changes everyday, you know what this means.
  • Aurora: Provides latest stabler Firefox experience.
  • Beta: Future version functionality for a wider range of public to test, can have bugs still!
  • Stable Release: I am sure you know what this means, its the major 6, 7, 8 release, ie the final versions.

The Google Sense of Humor.

Google has always been good humored with the public and I find it one of the reasons in its tons of reasons of popularity/success. Keeping people in a light mood when you and the person in front of you is under burdain helps both. Let these mood en-lighteners be in form of Gmail Motion(did you check this year's april fool hoax), Google Hoaxes, Ester Eggs 1 2 3 or maybe a simple small note on one of their website, they always make us smile even in the stress-fullest of times! These things binds me to Google even more.

Crashing Concerns

Though this year was the very same as the last one for the UPTU-SEE organizing committee, all went cool and calm but concern that stirred me the most was their websites. There were just around two lac students giving the SEE, and I guess not more than a lac would've been opening their website at the same time. But as usual the amateur looking websites, woke up a bit late or I guess much too late, students weren't able to check their results up-to the very night of result declaration. Some even complained of pressing F5 every five seconds from the very morning, stuck all day to their screens, after-all their career depends on it. The problem is out there but no one cares, its like it happens every year, lets have it this year too. Later I came to know that they even helped each candidate stay on their website ten more seconds by putting a captcha, what the hell problem do they have with automated result extractors, that they traded precious bandwidth when it was needed the most!!
These websites of the state's Mahamaya Technical University(i feel so bad to link these sites that aren't even working when I am attaching them here. It is bearing a tag "Under construction", yes it is the most important thing to do when the students need your website the most) who until last year claimed themselves to be the "Asia's biggest technical university" can't even bear the load of 50K students checking their results, their pages so ill designed, who could have been so light, take a hectic much of time to open even on a considerably fast Internet connections. Don't these people bother to have a "Google Analytics" or "Google Webmaster" account(yes, these services are free, of course I don't expect them to pay for anything) or can't they host the results at more than one servers so that they can bear the load. Can't they check what happens to their websites every year when the results are declared. They call themselves a technical university. Huh!
And the amazing thing is that I found the much smaller state, Chattisgarh's website was more sophisticated and professional, but they had other kinds of problem. Like they dont even work on SEO(Search Engine Optimization), I think.... however particular you may try to be in your keywords on Google, you can't find their results page in there, you have to pick up the brochure for their website!
Please Wait

Huh I am sick of it, people are so interested in watching those fashion blunders in those actors whom we don't even know from a mile away. And they cant even see these technological blunders that lead to so much of problem to people. Some of their websites are still down on 29-05-11, only good thing they did was put the result to the root webpage of their website, making their other pages inaccessible with the main page itself. Its not just UPTU its all over there, I see sites with black text on black backgrounds, really I want a leave, please dear reader let me take leave of you!
And yes one more thing, check out what their webpage(unedited, click to read) reads out:
MTU, under conttruction

"Under Consttruction." Cant help it!!
*Amazing, their links which take the candidates to information regarding councelling are still showing up 404 error at the time of publish of this post!

Gmail The Spy

The other day I was checking out an e-mail from one of my friend, and interestingly enough it had some so called ads on the side which were themed in a way or the other about the "IIT's" this was the first time I noticed that my mail too had an IIT theme, I was like awwww..., whats that. That was the moment I realized of reading something written as "better ads in Google", stay tuned, and the gmail blog which said of how the ads will be customized just for you. But here it was happening real-time and it felt a bit of awkward.
And that's the reason I received so many college ads in the year end seasons, and so many android ads whenever the talk was hot!

And the worse part, Gmail web-clips can be turned off (from settings-web-clips tab) but the ads on the right side of your mail are not so easily switch-off'able, though there are some greasy monkey scripts and some other hacks. I don't like it when I get ads of Android when I talk of android, and ads of "get cheap phones" when I was talking in a conversation or two about mobile phones. Yes, yes I know, no human is reading my mail behind it, but still its all like, while delivering my letter my postman says to me " Your aunt is a good personality, and a rich one too. *wink ;-)*", and I open up to find a letter from my aunt praising something!
I dint say its bad but at-least its awkward, its innovative, it new and its good.

GeeXboX My Favouraite Distro

Some one asked me for my favouraite Linux flavour (or what is also called distro), i thought and then said "GeeXboX", amazement at his face! Never heard of this one. I asked apart from office and other work what is our best entertainment work that you do on your computer.... I guess internet, videos audio, fb. And this distro does all of your audio, video and photographs part without even keeping all your graphics card, loads of widgets on all the time. And that malicious code eating on to your invaluable resources too cant work on this linux in the background. Best part - Being Linux its highly customizable, put your movies or audio in there which auto plays as cd is inserted, just get some of your audio/display drivers so that it works well, boot it from your USB key or just pop it in and bring snacks ad fall back on your Lazy-boy. Its minimalism attracts me so much. The first time I used it it was a mere 8 MB download, the latest stable is not too big mere 19 MB, comparable to your favouraite VLC!

The Open Source Café

This is an unedited version of my talk to one of my friend:
" .......as a foot note let me tell you a kind of case study of reception of Linux in India ( if you don't get bored ;) ). I was quite frequent one of th nearby cyber cafe, which made me quiet free to talk to the cyber cafe man! I one day asked him: why you use XP, whilst you have pretty good configs! (i was actually asking for the 7 thing) so we had a chat like what are the problems, virus and all. And that conversation lead me to many probable answers for "why not Linux"!<i mean cons with common man>. So in the end of it i figured it out that in the cybercafe at-least one or more person will be using internet, apart from the gaming thing in the cafe, as commonly one who came for gaming didn't surf and vice-versa, as this will also ease him on some computers' configurations. And i even proposed him to handle one computer's problems to me. Which meant any customer facing any problems on that computer will be my responsibility. So here began my research and experimenting time. I first of all listed out the problems of a lay user surfing internet which he will face on Linux, and found out that for and average customer there were no problems he can have. So here was a good news. First of all i installed Ubuntu and then worked out for the internet connection and codec thing with the help of a friend. And rest of it was done as i installed some basic software one needs. Rest was taken case by Ubuntu itself. Firefox was there, PDF reader, gimp, vlc, 7zip all went to desktop and what else was needed. (actually if i had worked out with mint it would have been a bit easier for the codec thing, or even Kubuntu). That was it and the special thing was that the over all user experience feedback was very good as most of the people were not even bothered, they didn't had any problems, they worked as usual, as almost all the soft-wares were already familiar specially the Firefox. Some users who wanted to work on their own soft-wares were shifted to the windows system. I even gave him a CD with boot'able "Geexbox" for users who came just for watching movies(why bother them, what else can be better than a 8 MiB full featured easy to use media player distro) Today even most of the daily life apps have gone online soo...
I told him that you can dual boot but that'll be cumbersome. And that was it. After some weeks of surveillance i left him(cyber cafe man) with his own armour and the bad thing he again swiched to Windblows, saying it was an over all mess for him, if someone asked him for help. Whatever this experience was great and rewarding. I learnt a lot from it. Thats it...."

vujà Dé vs Piracy

Piracy Concerns
For decades altogether there has been a trade off between the so much familiar Windows and the uh! so Geeky Linux. I don't take sides or justify either of them, but the concern is that at most of the instants and over and over again we've chosen the cheaper, easily accessible and the unofficial over the ethical, proper and most importantly the Costlier. And I was amazed to find that in India people don't even know what they are doing, And yours sincerely doesn't even remember how many Ubuntu iso's he has burned and distributed thinking this may help, but the only product is: Why bother?, Whats the difference between that so tough to learn copy of yours and this one you I have! .Its not that this kind of piracy is just limited to India or it is due to poverty or any such thing this blog shows a live example where Bill Gates himself agreed of watching pirated movies on You-tube himself, amazing isn't it!! Interesting part of the Microsoft story: I saw shops hanging cardboard signs written on them "Windows 7 available", I checked my wrist watch and it said 20 OCT 2009, two days before the Windows official release date, I was like :-O.... Microsoft even said "we love Microsoft piracy on China" , because in exact words of one of my friend, software piracy helps windows:
Do you know why Wind-blows still survives and Linux is not considered (for many)... That's because piracy exists... If there will be a full on no piracy law... Win-blows' days will be over... And then Linux will be considered among the mainstream OSes.
Even big companies as Microsoft get laid before such large scale piracy problems, Microsoft has been seen providing free software to counteract piracy. Every one is affected with this kind of piracy, authors of books, soft-wares, photographs, its not limited, things are worse with intellectual property data theft.
There has been different approaches to stop piracy, keys, online activation, DRM, anything, everything, has been done, but as they say, "build a more idiot-proof system, and bigger better idiots will appear!"
I've seen many of my friends get frustrated of intellectual property theft. The most interesting part is that people are devising social methods to counteract these problems and amazingly they help! Some even made themselves believe that their e-books being pirated doesn't necessarily means they are losing money,it may even mean that they are getting more money out of their product. One of the authors even complained that some people asked him to mail them the PDF copy of his book and as he mailed them the other day his books were distributed all over the net! The situation is that Cory Doctrow and Roy Osherove provide the links to download their own books on the net for free!! There's also a software, which reminds us to be on the right side, every-time someone tries to pirate it.
Piracy Initiative. Courtesy:labnol.org
I've seen, almost all of the time there's one, at least one open source or freeware alternative (like LiVES, Avidemux, Virtualdub, GIMP and many more), and for all fields and most of the times open-source's have satisfied me more than enough (Stellarium, Celestia etc). But for most people, how does that make any differences. One comment from a friend about the concern:
Indian world is just hanging on this piracy thread, I mean the cyber-cafe's and all... No international music (most of them)... No unreleased movies and many things like exposure to Windows, Photoshop and many other soft-wares can be imagined without piracy.
Due to their deep concern Indian Govt. has started implementing the open-source (Linux) initiative, this brings hope to lives of people, this makes those thousands of coders work just for nothing, just for the sake of making this world a better open-source or at-least non-pirated place to live!
I wonder, do those coders out there sitting in the Microsoft and such other labs intentionally leave Loopholes!?, so that this continues. Is it a marketing strategy to let their soft-wares get publicized, I've never seen a Hackintos, at least not yet!
So we should be aware of this piracy and the privacy(at least read once, what you accept!!) thing and make people aware of its consequences and try to avoid the Piracy. Be aware, Use Genuine, at least think of it we have got ample options!!

Blog Smart

This is a new blog, never mind, don't let your eyes roll down to the stats counter. You can always learn something from everyone. So here are basic blogging tips (with real time application on myself ;-) to make you blog smart. Yes I am learning too.

  1. First and foremost thing, the heading of your post must be explanatory, and attractive like use "Blog Smart" instead of "How To Blog", Don't fake it! Head and Tag your post sincerely.
  2. I don't say don't copy or borrow, at least no one produces the knowledge. Do borrow but do it open, put a link out there and give credit to whom you borrowed it from.
  3. Use Google to fullest. Yes you got it right, research before you blog. it has got two plus points first you may get some good points for your post, second you may altogether find a better post itself! So why work one more time just link the better one. If possible blog about something you find obscure to find you must have knowledge in that field and most importantly if you feel you can do it better then those out there, do it right away!
  4. Don't at all hesitate suggesting your readers for better blogs thinking they may leave you, always provide them ways to get it better and move upstream. Believe me, it helps.
  5. Don't advertise just as you are with your blog, it wont provide you enough anyway on the other hand you may lose your subscribers, focus on the quality of blogs.
  6. Make your subscribers read you in all the ways possible, rss, mobile, email or any other way, let them share your words on fb or anywhere else.
  7. Interact with your readers participate in comments and discussions, make the blog as down to ground as possible, if possible include screen shots and screen-casts for step by step work out!
  8. My favouraite point, I found it somewhere while surfing " A useful blog post once a week is better than low-quality content published daily " !
  9. Keeping in mind the above point maintain regularity don't disappoint your readers.
  10. Last point always keep the Blogger's Code Of Conduct in mind.
Try to keep content of your blog insusceptible to  time, i mean if someone checks out your blog after a year or so of your posting, and still finds it precise and relevent, won't it be great! Always keep eyes open, learn from the blogs you read and MOVE ON MAN!

Happy B'day Rusty

Being on a bit of technical/scientific side, I too believe that there must be some mathematics about beauty like the Golden Ratio or the Fibonacci Sequence to which even the nature, flowers seem to follow, I am also worried about Riemann hypothesis :-|. If you haven't heard this kind of comparison of mathematics and beauty, you're having it for the first time go stand in the corner for a while and Google before coming! So, there are some rules which are scientifically proven like attractive faces (facial proportions of beautiful people) have such and such a ratio (facial beauty and geometry) or if you keep on overlapping faces, the face you get with the greater number of overlaps the more attractive it'll be to the general public, or your blog is expected to be successful if the word count is between this and that(average word count is 100-249 words per post.), or if your writing skills are good or if your blog address character count is something fixed(we will talk about success in blogging in the next post).
So almost every thing in this world is defined with some mathematical set of rules or if its not yet, it is on the mind of our genius mathematicians, how to relate this or that event with mathematics/science.
Similar is Writing, you'll be successful if your writing is of a KIND and the circumstances are with you, I've seen novelists and writers to use great words which bind their readers with their charming effect, but there's one person who writes words as dust(in front of those great writers) but touches me and many more people like me with a simplistic approach! By chance if you are an Indian and even if you are slightly interested in written text or if you by chance just crossed the 10th grade from indian education system you know him already.
So I still wonder what drags me to his writing, from the very nursery up-to adolescence. His points of interest and articles are like what we see in our daily life, like a flower or just a lizard roaming around on his walls, his articles are so simplistic yet so powerful they attract the old and the young alike. He made me interested in reading, he was what I started my reading with, he drew my interest to books, and writing, he is like a teacher to me.
I wish him a Very Happy Birthday, may god bless him. May he keeps writing like this forever. To my teacher, my Hero, RUSKIN BOND!

Blogger's Code Of Conduct

I see flame-wars going on the comment boxes, sometimes on face-book, sometimes over the email or text messages, so here I put a piece very important to Bloggers, and to general public as well.
The Blogger's Code of Conduct is a proposal by Tim O'Reilly for bloggers to enforce civility on their blogs by being civil themselves and moderating comments on their blog. The code was proposed due to threats made to blogger Kathy Sierra. The idea of the code was first reported by BBC News, who quoted O'Reilly saying, "I do think we need some code of conduct around what is acceptable behaviour, I would hope that it doesn't come through any kind of regulation it would come through self- regulation."O'Reilly and others came up with a list of seven proposed ideas:
1. Take responsibility not just for your own words, but for the comments you allow on your blog.
2. Label your tolerance level for abusive comments.
3. Consider eliminating anonymous comments.
4. Ignore the trolls.
5. Take the conversation offline, and talk directly, or find an intermediary who can do so.
6. If you know someone who is behaving badly, tell them so.
7. Don't say anything online that you wouldn't say in person.
I personally love these rules so much, after all they are so well said, so lets try to enforce them into our daily chores over here.

Forewords, just joking man!

Hey people, these days of increasing cyber crime and all prove out to be hard! There are fakers roaming around who try to steal your work and prove that they are the real authors of the content you created from deep down your heart with so dedication and faith. It's not surprising, you can see it in photographs, your piece of writing, a video you edited or simply a source code of some program which you thought to be your and published on the net or kept your strings loose. So the authors/artists have to adopt to this and publish things keeping in mind the consequences of what may happen in case of data theft of intellectual property! Similarly i here by declare that i am on the same path of "no one's genuine". So my articles may be influenced by the thoughts of my friends, relatives or even a girl walking by the road when some idea stiked me. So don't be amazed if you find some words, lines or even paragraphs to be borrowed from somewhere you've already seen. It'll be taken proper care so as not to hurt someone, infringe copyright, or steal someone's idea. Afterall no one's perfect, and to err is human to forgive divine.
So if you are having any of above problems or any other queries or simply some suggestions please feel free to drop me a line at :- "tripathisiddhant@gmail.com". :) And ya dont steal be fair!

What is TECHNETIUM

Watch out friends the blog's name is "technetium" while the address is "techtium". Actually the basic idea of having this name comes from the 43rd element of the periodic table named Technetium (Tc) with atomic weight 98, discovered in 1937 with electron structure as (Kr)4d5 5s2 which is a gas amidst almost all the solid transition metals! I particularly chose this name due to it's close analogy with the word technology.
In 1947 element 43 was named after a greek word, meaning artificial since it was the first element to be artificially produced. Technetium, atomic number (z) 43, is the lowest numbered element in the periodic table without any stable isotopes that is exclusively radioactive and most technologically active element on the face of earth. ;-) .
Since technetium is unstable, only minute traces occur naturally in earth's crust as a spontaneous fission product in uranium ore. So don't worry i am gonna provide you with lots of it despite of its lack in nature.
Almost two thirds of the world supply comes from two reactors, but the rest of it is with me (mind it, its rare). All major technetium 99 m producing reactors were built in the 1960's and are close to end of their life time. But mine has just started so i'll be the only producer for some coming days. :)
PRECAUTIONS: Technetium plays no natural biological role and is not normally found in human body, but i am gonna provide you with this so handle carefully and be cautious in use!
